Curriculum change'Citizenship' and Citizenship education are not the same - as a recent Ofsted report re-iterated. Schools that are or think they are providing their students with good quality education in 'citizenship' may well find themselves described as providing poor quality 'Citizenship education'. So with the Citizenship education national curriculum in hand, what do you want young people to gain from a global dimension? As local, national, European citizens growing up in a changing, interrelated world, which awareness, understanding, and skills do you feel are particularly pertinent for your students? Which values and attitudes will help them now and in the future to play a constructive role in developing their local communities in a global society? Which experiences can you expose them to that will help them gain confidence in being active citizens?
